Workspaces and billing accounts
Discontinue is organized on two levels. Workspaces are where teams work; billing accounts are where money lives. Keeping them apart is what lets one subscription cleanly pay for several teams.
Workspaces
A workspace is the container a team works in. Everything you use day to day is scoped to it:
- Connectors to your source systems
- Chat conversations (shared: every member sees the workspace's conversations and who started each one)
- Reports, agents, schedules, and their run history
- Delivery channels
- Members and their roles
- One region, chosen when the workspace is created: EU keeps every AI request on EU infrastructure, Global lets it run in any supported region
- One time zone, chosen when the workspace is created: schedules run at these wall-clock times, reports count days by this clock, and every time shown in the app is in it
Each member has a role per workspace (member, admin, or owner; see Team & roles). A user can belong to several workspaces and switch between them with the workspace switcher in the sidebar. Workspaces are fully isolated from each other: nothing is shared between them except the billing account that pays for them.
Billing accounts
A billing account sits above workspaces and holds everything financial:
- The subscription and its plan
- The prepaid AI credit wallet
- The payment method and invoices (exactly one Stripe customer, no matter how many workspaces)
One billing account can pay for several workspaces, and plan capacity (workspaces, agents, reports, report runs) is pooled across all of them, not granted per workspace. A Pro account with two workspaces has 15 agent slots in total, split however you like. See Plans & AI credit.
Billing roles are separate from workspace roles
A billing account is managed by its billing admins, added by email on the account's own page. Whoever set up the account is its first billing admin. Every billing admin has the same rights:
- View overview, capacity, and usage
- Top up credit and configure auto-reload
- Subscribe, change plan, manage payment and invoices, and cancel the subscription
- Rename the account, and add or remove billing admins (including themselves; an account always keeps at least one)
- Add and delete the account's workspaces
Billing admins are independent of workspace membership: a workspace admin or owner has no access to the billing account unless added here, and a billing admin does not automatically see any workspace.
Adding and deleting workspaces
Workspaces are added and deleted on the billing account's Workspaces tab, so it is always clear which account pays for them. Add workspace creates one as long as the plan's workspace allowance has room; the workspace switcher's New workspace leads there too. People who are not billing admins see that entry greyed out: ask a billing admin of your workspace's billing account instead.
A new workspace starts empty, with its own connections, channels, reports, and members, and you become its owner. Its region and time zone are chosen at creation and cannot be changed afterwards. Both are shown under Settings → Workspace.
Deleting a workspace removes it permanently with everything in it; you confirm by typing its name. Deleting the account's last workspace also ends the subscription at the close of the current billing period, and the confirmation says when.
Where to find it
The billing account page is reached from any of its workspaces via Settings → Cost Management → Billing. It has four tabs:
- Overview: current plan and AI credit balance, side by side.
- Capacity: pooled plan allowances and how much of each is used.
- Usage: AI spend in euros, across all workspaces on the account and broken down per workspace.
- Workspaces: the workspaces the account pays for (add and delete them here) and its billing admins.
